About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Systems Analyst to join our team at Questrade Financial Group. As a Business Systems Analyst, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between our Technology department and various lines of business, driving the development and improvement of our investment platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Gather and Refine Business Requirements: Work closely with various business stakeholders to gather and refine requirements for our engineering team, ensuring that our investment platforms meet the needs of our customers.
  2. Develop Solution Intents: Create and maintain solution intents at the feature level, contributing to cross-squad requirements and respective solution intents.
  3. Collaborate with Engineering Teams: Work closely with our engineering teams and designers to build and improve our investment products, ensuring that they are scalable, reliable, and meet the needs of our customers.
  4. Develop Acceptance Criteria and Assist in Testing: Develop acceptance criteria, assist in testing, and provide data analysis on proposed and ongoing initiatives.
  5. Communicate Technical Milestones: Communicate technical milestones to business stakeholders and act as a subject matter expert for our investing teams.
  6. Collaborate with Engineering Teams to Ensure Business Requirements are Accurately Translated into Technical Specifications: Collaborate with our engineering teams to ensure that business requirements are accurately translated into technical specifications.
  7. Exhibit Confidence, Apply Critical Thinking, Innovate, and Keep Up with Technology and Competitor Products and Services: Exhibit confidence, apply critical thinking, innovate, and keep up with technology and competitor products and services to solve business problems for our organization.
  8. Provide Solutions for New Services and Make Recommendations to Improve Product Quality, Reliability, Performance, and Scalability: Provide solutions for new services and make recommendations to improve product quality, reliability, performance, and scalability.
  9. Provide Ongoing Support and Assistance to Squad Members: Provide ongoing support and assistance to squad members, seeking occasional guidance from senior staff when needed.
  10. Contribute to a Culture of Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence: Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence by identifying and implementing process improvements wherever appropriate.
Requirements
  1. Experience in Software Development: You have worked in teams to develop software applications: desktop, web, and/or mobile.
  2. Solving Business Problems and Recommending Scalable Solutions: You enjoy solving business problems and recommend scalable solutions.
  3. Understanding of REST APIs and gRPC: You understand how REST APIs and gRPC are used to build cloud-based applications, and know how to use Postman.
  4. Knowledge of Capital Markets: A good understanding of capital markets and preferably some knowledge about the stock market.
  5. Investment Experience: You have invested in the stock market or cryptocurrency, and have your own rationale in deciding a good investment.
  6. Strong Written Skills and Experience Documenting Business Processes: Strong written skills and some experience documenting business processes.
  7. Experience with MSSQL, Power BI or Equivalent Database Tools: Experience with MSSQL, Power BI or equivalent database tools.
  8. Curiosity and Desire to Learn: You are always curious to learn and understand how applications work behind-the-scenes, always asking why, why not.
  9. Team Player with Excellent Time Management and Prioritization Skills: You are a team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, with excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  10. 2+ Years of Experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or Technical Role within the Financial Services Industry: 2+ years working as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or technical role within the financial services industry.
  11. Work Experience or Knowledge in the Investments Industry: Work experience or knowledge in the investments industry: discount brokerage and wealth management.
  12. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Business, and/or Finance: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Business, and/or Finance with relevant work experience.
  13. Closely Worked with JIRA, Confluence, GitLab or Equivalent Tools: Closely worked with JIRA, Confluence, GitLab or equivalent tools.
  14. Knowledge in Banking and/or Cryptocurrency Industry: Knowledge in banking and/or cryptocurrency industry.
