Job Summary

The Accounts Payable Clerk will be responsible for processing invoices for payment, including data entry, authorization approval, vendor management, and performing weekly cheque and EFT runs. The successful candidate will also be responsible for reconciling key AP control accounts, training and providing support to field staff in submission and approval of payments, including travel claims and pcard transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process invoices for payment, including reviewing mail and email accounts, sending invoices to the appropriate authority for payment authorization, tracking the status of open invoices, and data entry.
  • Balance the weekly cheque and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) runs. Prepare emergency cheques to vendors as required.
  • Maintain good working relationships with suppliers, including responding to queries from suppliers and employees on the status of payment, investigating problems, and taking or delegating corrective action.
  • Reconcile key A/P accounts monthly, including reconciliation of the Accounts Payable subledger.
  • Participate in Financial Reporting team meetings as required, and in accordance with the principles of team management, determine group objectives, provide input to group financial planning, and assess and coordinate unit workload and priorities.
  • Process monthly Visa Statement for payment and download of transactions into General Ledger.
  • Perform other duties as listed in the full job description.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Grade 12 diploma or GED, plus a minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounts payable and/or purchasing. Equivalencies may be considered.
  • Working knowledge of computerized accounting systems is required. Experience in Great Plains is beneficial.
  • Requires a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Requires considerable attention to detail to ensure accuracy with figures.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of operational and management software used by the Corporation, and computer skills are an asset.
  • Requires a high level of organizational skills to meet deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Satisfactory criminal record check required.

Compensation

The salary for this position is $38.75/hr - $47.07/hr, plus a location allowance of approximately $3,823 per annum, plus a comprehensive benefits package, which includes Health and Dental Benefits, Life Insurance, paid Sick Days, and a Defined Pension Plan.

Location

This position is located in Hay River, NT. Relocation assistance may be provided.
