Position Overview

Emcon Services Inc. is seeking a dedicated **Highway Snow Removal Operator** to ensure safe travel conditions during winter months. This role involves operating specialized vehicles and equipment to maintain highways and roadways.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of secondary school or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 to less than 7 months in a similar role.
Work Environment
  • Cold and wet conditions
  • Potential exposure to hazardous environments
  • High noise levels
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine checks, lubrication, refueling, and cleaning of equipment.
  • Operate various vehicles, including snowploughs and salt trucks.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
Licenses and Certifications
  • AZ class license
  • Class 1/1F/A License for semi-trailer trucks
  • Class 3/3F/DF License for vehicles with more than 3 axles
  • DZ class license
  • Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
Equipment Experience
  • Experience with road sweepers, salt trucks, sanding trucks, and snow transportation trucks.
Safety and Security
  • Must pass a criminal record check.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and manage overtime as required.
  • Weight handling capability of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).

  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Flexibility and initiative in a team-oriented environment.

Compensation

Financial benefits will be provided as per the collective agreement. This is a seasonal position requiring 40 hours of work per week.
