Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Shovel Operator to join our team at Thomas Cavanagh Construction Limited. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating shovels and handling various materials safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform accurate and controlled material handling tasks using the shovel, including loading, unloading, and relocating materials such as soil, rocks, and debris. Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while operating the shovel. This includes conducting pre-operation inspections, wearing the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining situational awareness to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of yourself and others on the job site. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and maintain a smooth workflow. This involves sharing information regarding material quantities, equipment conditions, and any potential issues that may arise during operations. Conduct routine maintenance on shovel equipment to ensure optimal performance. Responsibilities include greasing moving parts, inspecting hydraulic systems, and promptly reporting any mechanical issues. Keeping equipment in excellent condition contributes to a safer and more efficient work environment.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating a shovel within a grading crew is required. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary. Flexibility to work some weekends and evening shifts may be required.
