Job Summary:

Thomas Cavanagh Construction Limited is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for safely operating heavy equipment to perform tasks such as grading, earth moving, excavating, backfilling, and final grade preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment, including dozers, to perform site preparation tasks, ensuring high standards of safety and efficiency.
  • Conduct daily checks and basic maintenance on equipment to ensure safe operation, including checking fluids, cleaning, and making minor adjustments or reporting larger repairs to the maintenance team.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other construction team members to ensure project timelines, scope, and resource allocations are adhered to.
  • Participate in safety meetings and contribute to a safe working environment by identifying hazards associated with task execution.
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies and regulations, and maintain open lines of communication regarding site progress and potential issues.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of safety standards in heavy equipment operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
