About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance and Quality Manager to join our Global Data Governance team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping the growth and expansion of our data governance and data quality framework.

Responsibilities
  • Support the deployment of our data governance agenda globally to accelerate trust and utilization of data.
  • Collaborate to continuously refine our global data quality framework, driving adoption through the development of playbooks, accelerators, and training for data quality concepts.
  • Support leaders in data governance roles across the organization to improve their data literacy and familiarity with data governance and data quality practices.
  • Engage with partners at various levels of the organization to guide them in identifying critical data elements and setting up metrics linking data quality to business value.
  • Conduct hands-on data analysis to address high-priority data quality issues from issue identification through root cause analysis to issue resolution.
  • Implement global data governance metrics and oversight mechanisms to ensure delivery of target outcomes through the Data Governance program.
  • In partnership with Technology teams, support the adoption of data quality technology in the Azure Cloud environment as well as for on-prem applications.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Global Data Governance team and our Segment Data offices, Data Owners, and Control Partners (Information Risk Management, Compliance, Privacy, Legal) to ensure that data quality requirements are defined, captured, and communicated.
  • Apply creative thinking and contribute to innovation in data governance practices at Manulife, monitoring new and existing data governance technologies and bringing meaningful advancements to the leaders' attention.
What You'll Achieve

You will work with our technology and business partners to unlock the value of data through improved accuracy and trust. This will help Manulife achieve its strategic ambition of becoming a digital customer leader, enabling efficiency and speed in generating insights with data.

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of data governance and data management related experience in a large multinational organization.
  • A college/university degree in computer science, engineering, or another technology or quantitative field.
  • Experience operating in a sophisticated, large-scale organization; financial and insurance industry experience preferred.
  • Strong communicator, able to effectively target communications to both technology and business audiences.
  • Mastery of data governance concepts and technologies, hands-on experience using one or more leading data quality software and data visualization products at scale.
  • Familiarity with foundational data architecture concepts and Cloud technology is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solver, able to facilitate teams united by a common goal in a matrixed organizational structure.
  • Practical experience with data wrangling, analytics, dashboard design. Knowledge and experience of AI/ML technologies and approaches is a plus.
  • An aspiring leader with a passion, drive, curiosity, and motivation to navigate across a global matrixed organization.
