Clinical Laboratory Specialist

Essential Qualifications

  • Certification from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent body.
  • Current registration or eligibility as a Medical Laboratory Technologist with the relevant regulatory authority, including authorization to practice in Laboratory Medicine specialties.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, specifically Cerner.
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Capability to collaborate and foster positive relationships within healthcare teams.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Commitment to personal, patient, and staff safety.
  • Reliability in maintaining regular attendance at work.
  • Adherence to patient privacy and confidentiality standards.
Additional Conditions
  • Availability to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, days, evenings, and nights, as well as the ability to be on-call.
  • Work hours may vary based on the operational needs of the laboratory services.
  • Capability to perform phlebotomy procedures.
  • Willingness to undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.
  • Compensation is in accordance with the collective agreement, ranging from $36.84 to $50.24 per hour.
