Job Summary:

Alexandra Hospital Ingersoll is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team in the Laboratory Medicine department. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality laboratory services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform various laboratory tests and procedures to analyze patient samples and provide accurate results.
  • Operate and maintain complex laboratory equipment, including automated analyzers and microscopes.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide timely and effective laboratory services.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date with the latest laboratory techniques and technologies.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Perform phlebotomy and other related tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • Certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
  • Current registration or eligibility as a Medical Laboratory Technologist with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario.
  • Minimum two years' experience in a medical laboratory setting.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to work with laboratory information systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to laboratory safety protocols.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work all shifts, including weekends, statutory holidays, and on-call rotations.
  • Hours are subject to change based on the needs of Laboratory Services.
  • Must be able to perform phlebotomy and other related tasks.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary as per the OPSEU collective agreement ($36.84 per hour to $50.24 per hour). Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage.
