Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Leader to join our team at Sdi Corporation. As a Senior Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for managing the purchasing process from requisition to receipt, identifying proper sources, obtaining quotes, and placing orders for material requests through an ERP system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the preferred supplier strategy as set forth by our Procurement department.
  • Manage and own non-stock purchasing from requisition to receipt for set clients, including individual transaction negotiations, delivery of best cost, quality, and delivery timeframe in line with preferred supplier strategy.
  • Own and be responsible for acceptable time duration to convert requisitions to purchase orders.
  • Own and be responsible for on-time delivery performance.
  • Communicate proactively with suppliers when delivery dates are coming due.
  • Communicate proactively of problem transactions as well as proposed solutions to client users.
  • Communicate proactively with field team relative to tracking orders, shipments, trouble shooting, and responding to all other questions.
  • Manage Customer Care Specialist(s) in effectively supporting designated client(s).
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for Purchasing Managers in accordance with company's goals and objectives and monitor on a regular basis.
  • Develop and drive countermeasures for underperforming key processes and/or material suppliers working with the Supplier Relationship Manager.
  • Identify and communicate repeat non-stock purchases to proper Client Procurement Manager.
  • Establish the process to report Non-Stock savings and make sure Purchasing Managers follow the direction and report savings.
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers and involved departments to resolve purchasing related problems.
  • Handle all invoice exceptions, including accounts payable (A/P) match exceptions associated with purchasing and the expediting of open orders.
  • Back up other accounts as needed.
  • Supervise the after-hours program and help implement the schedule.
  • Visit clients as requested or needed on-site, traveling may be required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent work experience (7-10 years direct purchasing experience). Experience purchasing indirect or maintenance, repairs and operations (MRO) materials is required.
  • Fluency in English and French is required (oral and written).
  • Prior experience within an inbound call center environment highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing staff.
  • Must be a motivated self-starter with an exceptional sense of urgency, follow up, and drive to get things done right the first time every time.
  • Demonstrated experience as an effective communicator and relationship builder.
  • Strong systems acumen: knowledge of Peoplesoft ERP software and MS Office software preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong teamwork skills to assist others and ability to commit to team goals and activities.
  • Willingness to work during some holiday and weekends, as required throughout the year.
