Our team operates around the clock, consisting of skilled nurses, physicians, physician assistants, and various other healthcare professionals. We pride ourselves on our multidisciplinary approach, which includes specialized resources for mental health and internal medicine, ensuring thorough evaluations and timely referrals for our patients.
As a Physician Assistant in our Emergency Department, you will collaborate closely with our Senior ED physicians. You will be responsible for reporting clinical matters to the supervising Senior ED physician and administrative matters to the Patient Care Manager. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting comprehensive patient interviews and documenting medical histories.
- Performing thorough physical examinations and interpreting clinical findings.
- Coordinating laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging.
- Supporting patients and their families during the transition from the Emergency Department to community care.
- Communicating effectively with ED physicians regarding patient updates and diagnostic results.
- Executing specific medical procedures as directed by a supervising physician.
- Fulfilling additional responsibilities within your scope of practice as a physician assistant.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program in Ontario.
- Certification or eligibility for certification through the PACC.
- Current BCLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
- A demonstrated interest in Emergency Medicine is essential.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
- Proven ability to conduct thorough clinical assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Capacity to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
- A satisfactory record of employment and attendance.
Additional Information
Work Schedule: Various rotating shifts available, subject to operational requirements.
Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
