Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our Emergency Department team at Halton Healthcare. As a Physician Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our team.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough patient interviews and take accurate medical histories.
- Perform physical examinations and interpret findings to inform treatment decisions.
- Organize and coordinate laboratory and diagnostic investigations to support patient care.
- Collaborate with patients and families to ensure a smooth transition from the Emergency Department to the community.
- Communicate effectively with Emergency Department physicians to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Perform acts under medical directives delegated by physicians, as authorized.
- Participate in other duties within your scope of practice as a Physician Assistant.
- Graduate of a Physician Assistant program in Ontario, either from McMaster or Consortium education.
- Certified or eligible for certification through the Physician Assistant Canadian Certification (PACC).
- Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Demonstrated interest in the specialty of Emergency Medicine.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, public, colleagues, and other healthcare disciplines.
- Competency in performing complete and appropriate clinical assessments and developing treatment plans in accordance with medical directives.
- Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a medical model of care with all members of the healthcare team.
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record.
This is a full-time position with various rotating 10-hour shifts, Monday to Sunday. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to changing patient needs and operational requirements.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a collaborative medical model of care with all members of the healthcare team, including nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, public, colleagues, and other healthcare disciplines.
