Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Staff ASIC Design Engineer to join our Ottawa-based ASIC design team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing leading-edge chips for the Coherent Optics market.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a world-class ASIC design team to build innovative chips for the Coherent Optics market.
  • Develop subsystems in large mixed-signal optical coherent DSP ASICs.
  • Collaborate with system architects to define specifications and micro-architectures, and develop RTL.
  • Optimize design size, timing, and power via micro-architecture, RTL, and synthesis.
  • Provide layout support for quality final products and timely delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required; higher degrees are preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-7 years of ASIC design experience.
  • Solid design and debugging skills.
  • Working knowledge of DSP/FEC and communication theories.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and teamwork.
  • Good knowledge of ASIC design flow and tools, with backend knowledge being a great asset.

Assets

  • Working knowledge of MATLAB and other scripting languages.
  • Knowledge of OTN, CAUI, and other telecom protocols.
  • Design experience with Ethernet standards 100G to 800G would be an asset:
    • 100GE – cl45, cl49, CL82, CL91, CL119
    • 200GE, 400GE – cl161, cl116
    • 800GE –
    • PTP 1588 Standard
    • Ethernet frame types
    • Packet insertion/extraction
