Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff ASIC Design Engineer to join our Ottawa-based team. As a key member of our ASIC design team, you will be responsible for building leading-edge chips for the Coherent Optics market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a world-class ASIC design team to develop innovative solutions for the Coherent Optics market.
  • Develop subsystems for large mixed-signal optical coherent DSP ASICs.
  • Collaborate with system architects to define specifications and micro-architectures, and develop RTL code.
  • Optimize design size, timing, and power via micro-architecture, RTL, and synthesis.
  • Provide layout support for quality final products and timely delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (higher degrees preferred).
  • Minimum 2-7 years of experience in ASIC design.
  • Strong design and debugging skills, with a solid understanding of micro-architecture and implementation.
  • Working knowledge of DSP/FEC and communication theories.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of ASIC design flow and tools, with backend knowledge a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of MATLAB and other scripting languages.
  • Knowledge of OTN, CAUI, and other telecom protocols.
  • Design experience with Ethernet standards 100G to 800G, including 100GE, 200GE, 400GE, and 800GE.
  • Knowledge of PTP 1588 Standard and Ethernet frame types.
