Specialized Educational Support Assistant

Position Overview:

The ideal candidate will have successfully completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training. Please ensure to include copies of relevant qualifications and certifications.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Developmental Services Worker (DSW) preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with autism
  • Familiarity with Assistive Technology
  • Training will be provided for Catheterization
  • Experience in Behaviour Modification techniques
  • Proficiency in Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience supporting deaf/blind students
  • Knowledge of PIC Symbols
  • Ability to develop programs for autistic students
  • Training in Crisis Intervention strategies
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • CPR and First Aid certification required
  • Assistance with toileting and lifting tasks
  • Pool supervision experience required
  • Familiarity with standing frames, AFOs, Hoyer Lift, and communication devices
Additional Information:
Candidates must be prepared to address behavioral and medical needs effectively. Only qualified personnel as per the applicable Collective Agreement are eligible to apply.

Compensation:
If the position is for less than a full academic year: $26.45 per hour.
If it is for the entire academic year: $28.54 per hour.
