  • Accompany participants in interviews and first days on the job.
  • Regularly check-in with participants to ensure their employment placement opportunities are maintained.
  • Problem-solve challenges in the workplace and introduce coping strategies.
  • Teach self-care and self-awareness techniques.
  • Provide extended employer support and training on mentoring youth with mental health needs.
  • Advocate with employers to sustain participants' placements.
  • Attend meetings with employers and participants to discuss job carving, scheduling, and other employment-related matters.
  • Facilitate mental health excursions to introduce safe self-care and coping strategies.
  • Assist youth in developing employment and employability skills, including job search skills, interview techniques, resume preparation, career exploration, budgeting, time management, and soft skills.
  • Build relationships with youth to ensure successful job matching.
  • Coach and support youth throughout the program to meet their needs.
  • Act as a positive role model, mentor, and support for youth as they learn new skills.
  • Market, outreach, and promote the program to employers and the community.
  • Represent the organization and program with various community stakeholders, including agency partners, employers, donors, coworkers, volunteers, schools, clients, and family members.
  • Participate in the program intake process.

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in a child/youth-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience working with youth.
  • Knowledge of the job market and the Employment Standards Act.
  • Counselling experience in life skills and behavior management, assessment, intake, and case management.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills.
  • Ability to work with a team, motivated, strong work ethic, empathetic, and adaptable.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse clients.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills promoting positive team building, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification, vulnerable sector screening, car, and valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.

The Employment Counsellor will support participants of 360°kids' Base4Success employment program to maintain their employment placement opportunities.

The role involves accompanying participants in interviews and first days on the job, regularly checking-in with participants, and problem-solving challenges in the workplace.
