Position Overview

At FortisBC, we ensure the safe and reliable delivery of energy to our customers at the most reasonable cost. We provide more energy than any other utility in B.C., accounting for approximately 21 percent of the total energy consumed, serving around 1.1 million customers across more than 135 communities. In This Role, You Will:

As a Community Engagement Representative, you will represent FortisBC at various community, retail, and special events throughout our service areas. Your role will involve promoting and educating customers about energy conservation, energy programs, safety, and company initiatives.

What It Takes:
  • Grade 12 High School Diploma
  • 1-2 years of experience in customer service or related promotional work
  • A highly motivated self-starter with initiative and dedication
  • An outgoing and personable demeanor with a positive attitude
  • Strong oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • A passion for public speaking and engaging with the public
  • Proficiency with computers and MS applications
  • Previous promotional or event experience is an asset
  • A collaborative team player
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of a second language is a plus
  • A valid Driver's License with no restrictions
  • Ability to lift, carry, and assemble items and displays weighing up to 50 lbs regularly
What You Need to Know:

This position requires travel to events throughout various service areas. Travel expenses for events will be reimbursed by FortisBC.

This is a part-time temporary position that may require weekend and evening work, including statutory holidays. Weekly hours will vary, with increased hours during peak seasons.

The role involves certain physical demands, including lifting, carrying, and assembling items and displays weighing up to 50 lbs regularly, setting up display materials and tents, and prolonged standing (4-8 hours at a time), as well as bending and reaching.
