Job Summary:

The NorthWords Writers Festival Society is seeking a highly organized and motivated Executive Director to support the Board of Directors in achieving our vision and strategic goals. The successful candidate will manage the daily operations and activities of the Society, including:

  • Financial Management: Manage the Society's finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Event Planning: Assist in planning and executing the annual NorthWords Writers Festival and other events throughout the year.
  • Grant Writing: Research and write grant proposals to secure funding from municipal, provincial, and federal funding bodies, as well as private foundations and sponsored funding.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community arts groups, vendors, and audiences.
  • Program Development: Develop and implement successful fundraising and development strategies, including planning and executing fundraising events.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business, arts, or non-profit management.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of bookkeeping software (QuickBooks) and grant proposal writing is an asset.
