About the Role

The NorthWords Writers Festival Society is seeking a highly organized and motivated Executive Director to support the Board of Directors in achieving our vision and strategic goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the daily operations and activities of the Society, including:

  • Managing the Society's finances, including budgeting, financial reporting, and grant proposal writing;
  • Coordinating the planning, execution, and administration of the annual NorthWords Writers' Festival and other events throughout the year;
  • Developing and implementing successful fundraising and development strategies;
  • Building and maintaining relationships with community arts groups, vendors, and audiences;
  • Providing exceptional communication and organizational skills, including self-directed work and adaptability to changing deadlines and circumstances.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with a not-for-profit organization;
  • Experience collaborating with and obtaining approvals from a Board of Directors;
  • Experience developing successful fundraising and development strategies and planning;
  • Knowledge and experience writing and reporting on successful grant proposals to municipal, provincial, and federal funding bodies, as well as private foundations and sponsored funding;
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills, including building and maintaining relationships with community arts groups, vendors, and audiences;
  • Self-directed, disciplined, and able to adapt quickly to new and changing deadlines, circumstances, and challenges.
