Job Title: Executive Director
Job Summary:
The NorthWords Writers Festival Society is seeking a highly organized and motivated Executive Director to support the Board of Directors in achieving our vision and strategic goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the daily operations and activities of the Society, including budgeting, event planning, and grant writing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Develop and implement financial plans and budgets to ensure the Society's financial stability and sustainability.
- Event Planning: Plan and execute the annual NorthWords Writers Festival and other events throughout the year, in collaboration with the Event Coordinator.
- Grant Writing: Research and write grant proposals to secure funding from municipal, provincial, and federal funding bodies, as well as private foundations and sponsored funding.
- Communication: Build and maintain relationships with community arts groups, vendors, and audiences through exceptional communication skills.
- Organization and Time Management: Demonstrate exceptional organization and time-management skills to meet deadlines and adapt to changing circumstances.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2+ years of experience working with a not-for-profit organization, preferably in a leadership or management role.
- Skills: Strong financial management and budgeting skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business, arts, or non-profit management.
