Job Summary:

The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Officer, Staffing to join our team. This role will provide critical support to all levels of management, including consultation and advice on staffing issues, collective agreements, employment legislation, and Board policies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide resources and support to management on staffing matters, including recruitment, selection, and hiring processes.
  • Interpret and apply collective agreements, employment legislation, and Board policies to ensure compliance and fairness.
  • Coordinate the hiring process, including posting vacancies, screening resumes, and conducting interviews.
  • Authorize salary changes, transfers, leaves of absence, resignations, and retirements, ensuring accurate maintenance of records.
  • Prepare and send offers of employment, monitor completion of conditions, and distribute Employee ID numbers.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external sources regarding employment opportunities and current employees.
  • Support Principals and School Superintendents with sourcing and selecting qualified teaching and non-teaching staff for specific roles.
  • Collaborate with various departments to provide assistance and develop innovative solutions within human resources.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or certificate in Human Resource Management or equivalent education.
  • One to three years of related experience in a progressive Human Resources environment, preferably in the public sector.
  • Human Resources Management Designation (CHRP) or equivalent is considered an asset.

Specialized Skills:

  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Experience in the administration and interpretation of collective agreements.
  • Advanced level skills and experience in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and HRIS information systems.
