Position Overview:

The Assistant Controller plays a pivotal role in gathering, communicating, and reporting financial data to both internal and external stakeholders. This position is also tasked with guiding and managing the Corporate Accounting Team to ensure effective execution of cash management, budgeting, auditing, financial reporting, and investment oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspire, mentor, and lead the Corporate Accounting team to deliver exceptional services associated with this role.
  • Oversee performance management, foster collaboration, and proactively strategize for the future direction of the team.
  • Collaborate with team members to set annual performance goals and monitor progress to enhance professional growth.
  • Address challenging personnel matters directly with appropriate discretion and transparency.
  • Manage recruitment, terminations, and performance assessments for Corporate Accounting team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement in accounting and financial processes/controls while developing the Corporate Accounting team to achieve best practices and optimal efficiency.
  • Provide managerial oversight of cash management, investments, balance sheet reconciliations, and profit and loss account reconciliations.
  • Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled to the General Ledger at least quarterly for accounts within the scope of this role.
  • Oversee and/or prepare financial reports, tax submissions, and account variance analyses.
  • Responsible for distributing monthly financial reports to management and external stakeholders.
  • Supervise monthly journal entries.
  • Play a key role in preparing annual budgets, forecasts, and analyzing actual results.
  • Lead the preparation of working papers for interim and annual audits.
  • Take ownership of the accounting system and general ledger coding.
  • Support the Finance Team in various projects and tasks as needed.
  • Participate in training initiatives for backup coverage of responsibilities when necessary.
  • Effectively manage multiple assignments simultaneously with minimal supervision.

Education:

CPA designation is required.

Experience:

Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and software is essential, along with a minimum of 5 years in an accounting or finance role and at least 1 year in a managerial capacity.
