Job Summary

We are seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Short Stay Surgery Unit. As a Registered Practical Nurse, you will provide excellent patient and family driven care in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of care providers to assess, educate, prevent, maintain, and restore patient health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing patient demands and engaging with new challenges every day.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, staff, volunteers, and families.
  • Make decisions, take ownership of actions, and use critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the best interests of the patient.
  • Follow all health and safety policies and guidelines to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers, and families.
  • Embrace our learning culture and demonstrate ongoing commitment to professional development to enhance knowledge and skills.

Requirements

  • Registered Practical Nursing diploma from a recognized Community College.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
  • Current Medication Certificate.
  • One year recent experience in surgery, preferred.
  • Genetic termination experience, preferred.
  • PCA, epidural, ostomy, TPN experience, preferred.
  • Patient Assessment course, preferred.
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset.

This is a Part-Time Permanent position with 8-hour shifts, Days and Nights in the Short Stay Surgery Unit.
