Position Overview: Supervisor of Design

Metro is seeking a talented Supervisor of Design to oversee a dedicated team of internal designers and drafters. In this role, you will also manage the contributions of external design consultants to create innovative concepts and production drawings for various banners. Your expertise will be crucial in providing design insights and solutions that align with evolving design proposals and banner specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily design operations, collaborating with team members to ensure high-quality execution and adherence to established concepts.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on store design proposals, ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Review and validate all design drawings for precision and conformity with company standards, supervising the team to guarantee timely project completion.
  • Maintain established drawing standards and ensure their application across projects. Conduct thorough assessments of store conditions to assist planners in accurate budget forecasting and identify opportunities for cost efficiencies.
  • Delegate projects to a multidisciplinary team, tracking progress against project objectives and addressing challenges as they arise.
  • Engage in project planning by outlining the scope of decor initiatives and developing preliminary budgets.
  • Supervise and evaluate feasibility reports, exterior signage, and stakeholder communications.
  • Conduct site visits to verify accuracy and propose design solutions that meet company standards.
  • Provide regular project updates to management, proactively addressing any emerging issues.
  • Analyze project needs and prepare requests for proposals for third-party design and feasibility consultants.
  • Oversee all third-party design and feasibility consultants to ensure accuracy, identify potential challenges, and ensure timely completion of work.
  • Prepare both preliminary and final design plans, installation blueprints, and construction details for internal review and client presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Interior Design, or a related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in retail design.
  • Proficient in CAD software and other design tools such as PhotoShop, with a solid understanding of the PC Windows environment and basic knowledge of SAP.
  • Strong ability to plan and execute project tasks, effectively prioritizing urgent and critical assignments.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
