Position Overview: Supervisor of Design

Metro is seeking a proficient Supervisor of Design to oversee a dedicated team of internal designers and drafters. In this role, you will manage the collaboration with external design consultants to create innovative concepts and detailed production drawings for various banners. Your expertise will be crucial in providing design insights and solutions that align with evolving design proposals and banner specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily design operations, collaborating with team members to ensure quality execution and adherence to established concepts.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on store design proposals while maintaining budgetary constraints.
  • Review and validate all design drawings for precision and compliance with company standards, ensuring timely project completion by monitoring progress throughout the design process.
  • Manage and uphold established drawing standards across projects, offering accurate assessments of store conditions to assist in reliable budget estimations and identifying potential cost-saving measures.
  • Delegate projects to a multidisciplinary team, tracking progress against project objectives and addressing challenges as they arise.
  • Engage in project planning by outlining the scope of decorative works and high-level budget estimates.
  • Supervise and review feasibility reports, exterior signage, and stakeholder communications.
  • Conduct site visits to ensure design accuracy and propose solutions that meet company standards.
  • Provide regular project status updates to management, proactively addressing any emerging issues.
  • Analyze project requirements and prepare requests for proposals for third-party design and feasibility consultants.
  • Oversee third-party design and feasibility consultants to ensure accuracy, identify potential challenges, and guarantee timely completion of work.
  • Prepare both preliminary and final design plans, installation plans, and construction details for internal review and client presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Interior Design, or a related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in retail design concepts.
  • Proficient in CAD software and other design tools such as PhotoShop, with intermediate knowledge of the PC Windows environment and basic understanding of SAP.
  • Ability to plan and execute project activities effectively, prioritizing urgent and critical tasks for both the team and oneself.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle at all times.
