The Administrator of Prince County Hospital plays a pivotal role within Health PEI's operations division, specifically within the Hospital Services Management team. This position reports directly to the Executive Director of Hospital Services and serves as an advisor to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Board of Health PEI, and the Department of Health and Wellness.
The Administrator is responsible for comprehensive on-site management and the assurance of high-quality health service delivery. This role encompasses accountability for all personnel and the operational budget.Furthermore, the Administrator is tasked with the formulation and implementation of policies and programs that have regional and provincial implications; they actively participate in provincial, regional, and national initiatives on behalf of Health PEI.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the hospital meets the standards of patient care in alignment with Health PEI's philosophy, policies, and objectives.
- Provide overarching oversight and leadership for Prince County Hospital, including staff and volunteers; assume full responsibility for all personnel and operational activities.
- Develop and implement annual business and strategic plans, including goals and objectives.
- Manage the annual operating and capital budgets for the facility, recommending the allocation and distribution of funds based on divisional and systemic needs.
- Monitor the hospital budget, analyze expenditure trends, prepare quarterly forecasts, approve expenditures, and identify operational efficiencies.
- Prepare briefing notes and information for advising the Executive Director of Hospital Services, COO, CMO, Deputy Minister, Minister of Health and Wellness, Health PEI Board, and CEO.
- Draft correspondence, press releases, reports, budget estimates, and memorandums for Treasury Board and Executive Council.
- Act as the primary spokesperson for the hospital, engaging with the community, media, government, and non-government agencies.
- Prepare and present submissions to the Health PEI Executive Team, Health PEI Board, Treasury Board, and Cabinet committees.
- Utilize LEAN process improvement and change management strategies to facilitate quality enhancement initiatives.
- Ensure the implementation of emergency services and planning, including the development of disaster plans and routine mock disaster exercises; maintain collaboration with local agencies.
- Collaborate closely with the HR division and the HR manager to ensure HR practices align with organizational values and client outcomes.
- Work in partnership with the Recruitment and Retention Secretariat to support the recruitment of hospital staff and physicians, particularly in addressing critical staffing shortages.
- The Administrator is financially accountable to Health PEI for the administration, evaluation, monitoring, and management of the allocation of resources at Prince County Hospital to ensure optimal outcomes.
