Job Title: Senior Manager, Operational Accounting

We are seeking a seasoned accounting leader to join our team at STARS. As Senior Manager, Operational Accounting, you will play a critical role in supporting business decision-making and executing complex initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the full accounting cycle, ensuring timely and accurate month-end close.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly and quarterly internal reporting packages, providing meaningful insights and analysis.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, to prepare external quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements.
  • Lead the annual capital and operating budget process, analyzing variances and working with budget owners.
  • Oversee preparation of quarterly provincial government reporting and provide verbal updates to government partners.
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, to ensure proper working capital management and cash transfers.
  • Lead the Accounts Payable function for the organization.
  • Identify and promote continuous improvements, including system and technology gaps.
Requirements:
  • Professional accounting designation (CA/CPA) is required.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressive operational accounting experience in complex, multi-jurisdictional organizations.
  • Three to five years of experience in a leadership position is required.
  • Established track record of strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Office 365 applications, especially MS Excel, and working knowledge of data analytics tools such as Power BI.
