Position Overview: Manulife is in search of a proactive Platform Engineer specializing in Data and Analytics Platforms. This role requires a passion for delivering value, a forward-thinking mindset, and a focus on optimizing infrastructure. You will be tasked with constructing, managing, and supporting Data and Analytics platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement cloud automation workflows while supporting the cloud architecture.
- Engage in hands-on cloud platform provisioning and configuration management coding development and deployment.
- Continuously enhance monitoring and logging engineering for cloud environments, enabling comprehensive monitoring and dashboard reporting.
- Create automation scripts for platform operations and develop runbooks for 24/7 support and monitoring teams.
- Conduct testing for new cloud platforms, runbooks, and packaging as cloud service offerings for business users.
- Plan and execute essential controls and activities for infrastructure and platform modifications.
- Assist in planning, implementing, and reviewing capacity planning for resources, providing reports and recommendations to management as necessary.
- Participate in implementing disaster recovery drills for various markets, adhering to local compliance and business continuity requirements as needed.
- Collaborate with the architecture team to support the design and configuration of data and analytics environments.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience leading large-scale implementations of related technologies.
- Expertise in DevOps tools and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) programming, including Terraform, Python, and PowerShell for infrastructure automation management.
- Proven experience with common CI/CD pipelines and repository management tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining extensive data and analytics systems.
- Knowledge of infrastructure service provisioning, security concepts, and best practices for IaaS and PaaS models supporting data and analytics solutions.
- Familiarity with compliance and audit activities to enforce policies, standards, and procedures.
- Strong scripting and programming skills (Python, batch, PowerShell, shell scripts, etc.).
- A solid understanding of risk, security, and compliance requirements and best practices.
- Good grasp of networking infrastructure and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, DHCP, load balancing, replication, SSH).
- A passion for adopting and testing cloud technologies and new IT innovations.
- Strong project scheduling skills and experience in task-driven project work.
- Excellent communication and technical skills, with prior experience mentoring teams in a process-oriented environment.
