Cloud Engineer Job Description

Are you a skilled cloud engineer looking for a new challenge? Do you have experience with cloud platforms, services, and components? We're seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Cloud Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain cloud platforms, services, and components to enable safe enterprise-wide use of cloud common functionality.
  • Provide level 3 support for cloud-related issues.
  • Develop software and pipelines for provisioning and maintenance of cloud platforms and related components.
  • Participate in design discussions focused on scalability, design, and implementation best practices.
  • Ensure software, programs, and applications meet high availability, integrity, and reliability requirements.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and architects on task breakdown, scoping, and estimation.
  • Participate in planning, retrospective sessions, and attend stand-ups.
  • Build and operate highly available and scalable software and infrastructure.
  • Support application teams on cloud platform use, providing guidance on design patterns, best practices, and security considerations.
  • Provide peer review and quality control on a daily basis.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering/mathematics discipline.
  • Enthusiasm for cloud transformation and cloud platform/components/services development.
  • Strong development experience and breadth of language and framework experience.
  • Full understanding of software development life cycle and related technologies.
  • Understanding of software release process, environments, binary repositories, and CI/CD.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and/or networking.
  • Experience developing and deploying cloud infrastructure is a strong benefit.
  • Expertise in relational databases.
  • Experience in NoSQL databases is a benefit.
  • In-depth knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and security considerations.
  • Expertise in cloud platform features and capabilities is a benefit.
  • Proven experience in cloud development (Microsoft Azure, Google GCP) is a benefit.
  • Experience with AzureSQL and Tanzu Application Services is a strong benefit.
  • Self-sufficient, works under the supervision of a more senior engineer.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Attention to details, high standards for quality.
  • Writing and maintaining related documentation.
  • Experience within Canadian financial institutions is a benefit.
