About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Treaty Reinsurance Underwriter to join our team at Transatlantic Reinsurance Company. As a key member of our underwriting function, you will be responsible for managing our Canadian portfolio and supporting the underwriting process.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Program Review and Evaluation: Conduct thorough reviews of renewal and new business treaty reinsurance programs, including pricing and wording evaluation, to determine suitability for our portfolio across all lines of business.
  2. Negotiation and Contract Management: Negotiate agreement terms, conditions, and contract terms with clients and brokers to ensure alignment with our business objectives.
  3. Underwriting Audits and Portfolio Management: Conduct underwriting audits as required for both current and potential clients, and manage portfolio performance through reporting, account management, and budgeting.
  4. Client and Broker Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients through marketing, travel, and effective communication.
Requirements
  1. At least 10 years of experience in multi-line underwriting in the (re)insurance industry.
  2. Experience in multiple lines and property catastrophe knowledge is highly desirable.
  3. Proven track record of strong client management and communication skills.
  4. Proven ability to grow a book of business in the (re)insurance industry.
  5. Ability to collaborate with interdepartmental stakeholders, particularly claims, accounting, and actuarial teams.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Work Schedule and Environment

We offer a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in the office per week and 2 days remote, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance. Our team is supportive of an agile work schedule that adapts to individual roles, local office practices, and business objectives.
