Job Summary:
The IKO Industries Ltd. is seeking a skilled Millwright Apprentice to join our team in Brampton, Ontario. As a Millwright Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in maintaining production and quality by ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend safety training courses and crew meetings to ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform housekeeping duties, including maintaining a clean maintenance shop and cleaning up after all jobs.
- Paint equipment as required to ensure optimal performance.
- Operate a lift truck and aerial work platform as needed to access equipment and materials.
- Perform welding and cutting tasks as required to repair and maintain equipment.
- Use machine tools, such as drill presses, bandsaws, lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to perform various tasks.
- Perform general fabrication tasks, including reading blueprints and operating an air compressor.
- Conduct general maintenance repairs and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is running efficiently.
- Troubleshoot and repair machinery and equipment to minimize downtime.
- Install new machinery and equipment as required.
- Work on hot oil, asphalt, steam, and air lines, as well as hot oil boilers and steam generators.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Registration in a Skilled Trades Ontario approved apprenticeship program.
- Meet all government requirements to be eligible for the Maintenance Millwright program.
- Possess a full set of metric standard tools.
- Experience with mechanical devices, pneumatic controls, and welding/cutting.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings.
- Ability to work shifts, including extended hours and weekends.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a routine basis.
- Ability to walk and/or stand 70-90% of the shift.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
