POSITION: MILLWRIGHT APPRENTICE

IG Machine & Fibers Ltd. is a manufacturer of quality commercial and residential roofing products and part of the IKO Group of Companies. We presently have a full-time opportunity for a Millwright Apprentice to join our team based in Brampton, Ontario.
Position Overview:
The successful candidate will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and will maintain production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.
Responsibilities :
Attend safety training courses and crew meetings Housekeeping e.g., Keep maintenance shop clean and clean up after all jobs Paint equipment where required Operate a lift truck and aerial work platform where required Perform welding and cutting where required Machine work, using drill press, bandsaw, lathe, milling machine, grinder Perform required work with hand tools, such as air guns, electric shears, hand grinder, screw drivers, wrenches, hammers, etc. Remove, Install or rebuild parts. e.g. Bearings, pumps, gear boxes, clutches, etc. General Fabrication Read blueprints Operate air compressor General maintenance repairs. Preventative maintenance Troubleshoot and repair machinery equipment Install machinery and equipment Work on hot oil, asphalt, steam and air lines and hot oil boilers and steam generators Any other duties as assigned by the supervisorGeneral Requirements:
Registered in a Skilled Trades Ontario approved apprenticeship program. Meets all Government requirements to be eligible for the Maintenance Millwright program Must have full set of metric standard tools. Exposure with mechanical devices, pneumatic controls and welding/cutting. Must be able to read mechanical drawings. Must be able to work shifts as well as some extended hours and weekends. Must have interpersonal, problem solving & trouble shooting skills.Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a routine basis. Must be able to walk and/or stand 70-90% of the shift Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces Benefits of Employment: IKO recognizes that its success is due to the strength of its employees.
