Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough internal audits to evaluate business operations and controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Develop and execute audit procedures, including documentation and analysis, to identify areas for improvement and optimize business processes.
- Evaluate control standards and governance systems to ensure they are effective in mitigating risks and promoting a culture of compliance.
- Assist in the development of internal audit methodologies and staff training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Present findings to the Audit Committee and senior management, providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Perform data analysis and investigate suspicious transactions to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
- Document audit findings and provide recommendations for remediation, ensuring that all issues are thoroughly addressed.
- Evaluate IT risks and controls to ensure that they are aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Create an internal audit system to monitor issue resolution and track progress towards remediation.
- Benchmark against industry best practices and comparable organizations to ensure that our internal audit function is aligned with leading standards.
Qualifications:
- 4-5 years of operational and internal audit experience, preferably in a similar industry or sector.
- Degree in accounting, finance, engineering, or a related field, with a strong understanding of auditing principles and risk management.
- Ability to travel within North America and Europe (20%), with a willingness to relocate within Canada.
- Progress towards CIA, CPA, or similar certification, demonstrating a commitment to professional development.
- Expertise in accounting, auditing principles, and risk management, with a strong understanding of industry best practices.
- Experience implementing effective controls and governance, with a focus on promoting a culture of compliance.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with the COSO framework and IIA standards, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
