Indigenous Cultural Ambassador

We are seeking a highly skilled and culturally sensitive Indigenous Cultural Assistant to join our team at Northern Lights College. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a culturally responsive and holistic approach to services that support Indigenous student success.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and plan cultural events and activities that promote Indigenous student success and reconciliation learning opportunities.
- Work closely with the Indigenous Student Services Manager and Indigenous Student Navigators to develop and implement culturally responsive programs and services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local Elders and community stakeholders to ensure the inclusion of Indigenous perspectives and cultural practices in college programs and services.
- Plan and deliver cultural teachings and contextual Indigenous learning sessions for students, using story, oral history, demonstration, and experiential learning methods.
- Provide support and guidance to students through one-on-one meetings, group sessions, and cultural events.
- Collaborate with college staff and faculty to develop and implement Indigenous-focused programs and services.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and perspectives to inform college policies and practices.
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of relevant post-secondary education and 3-5 years of experience working with Indigenous students, communities, and Elders.
- Demonstrated experience and cultural training to lead and support traditional and contemporary Indigenous art and activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the region.
