About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team as a Child and Youth Mental Health Specialist. As a key member of our interdisciplinary care team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to children and youth with complex mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care and support to children and youth with mental health needs, including physical, psychiatric, and meal support.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
- Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations to identify patient needs and develop effective care plans.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and support to patients and their families.
- Participate in education and training programs to enhance knowledge and skills in child and youth mental health.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to child and youth mental health care.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN or RPN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- One (1) year of recent related clinical experience working within a child and/or youth mental health setting relevant to the service area within the BC Children's Mental Health Program or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
- Knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral, social, emotional, and mental health/psychiatric problems in children and youth.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to relate effectively to children/adolescents and their families.
- Ability to participate as a member of a multidisciplinary care team, work independently, and function as a nursing resource.
