Job Title: Liquor Store Assistant Manager

At Otter Co-op, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Liquor Store Assistant Manager to join our team. As a key member of our retail operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our liquor stores.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Store Manager in directing daily store operations, ensuring quality products and services are provided to our guests.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to store staff, promoting a positive and motivated team environment.
  • Oversee inventory management, including receiving product orders, maintaining a clean and organized warehouse, and ensuring stock rotation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to support the Store Manager.
  • Assist with creating and managing weekly department schedules to meet guest needs while operating within budgeted wage costs.
  • Review and approve payroll time cards in Kronos.
  • Contribute to recruitment, onboarding, retention, training, development, and performance management.
  • Participate in periodic inventory, including physical counts, data entry, and reviewing reports for discrepancies.
  • Ensure merchandising and program standards are implemented, measured, managed, and maintained.
  • Maintain store housekeeping, sanitation, and maintenance schedules/standards.
  • Handle guest inquiries and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide leadership in Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and ensure policies are followed.
  • Contribute to living the Corporate Values of Integrity, Community, and Excellence.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years' experience in Retail Guest Service, with liquor industry experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in leading and managing people in a busy retail environment is a strong asset.
  • Valid Serving it Right Certificate required; WSET 1 or 2 designation an asset.
  • Strong passion for the Liquor Industry and providing an exceptional shopping experience for Guests.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ability to manage computer files efficiently.
  • Solid basic math skills and ability to read and understand financial reports.
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership, and communications skills.
  • Self-starter with motivation and ability to work in a busy environment.
  • Effective planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain relationships both internally and externally to support the organization.
  • Enjoy working with the public and strive to provide a consistent and superior guest service experience.
  • Must have open availability and be able to work a variety of shifts, 7 days a week, including early mornings, afternoons, late evenings, weekdays, weekends, and stat holidays.
  • This position is based at the AOL @ Cherry Lane, though it may require occasional travel and work at other locations as business needs arise.
