POSITION SUMMARY
The Power Engineer – 4th Class plays a crucial role in the operation of the facility, which includes overseeing mechanical and other supporting systems. This position involves conducting structured inspections, performing preventative and corrective maintenance, and providing routine and on-demand services for facility mechanical equipment and systems. The Power Engineer – 4th Class is also tasked with ensuring compliance with established processes and practices, as well as adhering to internal and external regulations, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Troubleshooting
• Conducts assessments of facility conditions, mechanical and electrical equipment, and system deficiencies, offering recommendations for improvements and repairs.
Maintenance
Executes tasks in alignment with established processes and practices. Adheres to all internal and external regulations, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection standards. Performs regular inspections and maintenance on facility mechanical and other systems to ensure operational uptime and asset integrity. Responds to service requests and conducts preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and systems. Monitors the facility through walkthroughs to inspect mechanical, electrical, and other systems. Operates facility mechanical and supporting systems. Manages the work order lifecycle, ensuring tasks are completed to meet quality and contractual requirements. Aids in the implementation of the preventative maintenance program, ensuring deficiencies are documented and escalated appropriately.Client Relations
Contributes to enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality service.Administration
Participates in facility-related projects and initiatives. Ensures compliance with corporate and legislative policies related to environmental, health and safety, and fire protection. Maintains tools and coordinates repairs and replacements as necessary. Submits all expenditures promptly. Performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma with trades training and/or certification or licensing. Minimum of 3 years of experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of HVAC systems or pneumatic/hydraulic systems. Strong knowledge of facility operations and maintenance processes. Proven ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and building systems. Strong commitment to environmental, health, and safety practices. Excellent client-service orientation with a strong sense of urgency. Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS). Understanding of HVAC systems. Effective communication skills for data exchange and clarification. Mentoring skills to support the development of junior technicians. Willingness to work shifts and be available for on-call and emergency situations. Adherence to Health and Safety policies, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Capability to obtain necessary security clearance. Valid driver's license.Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
4th Class Power Engineer Certification - required Building Operator Certification or equivalent from an accredited institution required. Provincial HVAC or apprentice license (e.g., Gasfitter I & II license, refrigeration license).
