Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Major Gifts and Planned Giving to join our Philanthropy team at Rogers Sports & Media. This is a full-time position based in Toronto, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for major gifts and planned giving, with a focus on building long-term relationships with donors and securing significant gifts.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors, with a focus on securing gifts of $100,000+.
  • Develop and implement a planned giving strategy, including the creation of bequest language, gift annuity programs, and other planned giving vehicles.
  • Work closely with the Director, Philanthropy to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including annual giving, special events, and corporate partnerships.
  • Manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, with a focus on building relationships and securing gifts.
  • Collaborate with the Philanthropy team to develop and implement a donor engagement strategy, including stewardship events, recognition programs, and other initiatives.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and reports to track progress and ensure accountability.
  • Provide coaching and support to the Manager, Philanthropy and other team members as needed.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in fundraising, with a focus on major gifts and planned giving.
  • Proven track record of securing gifts of $100,000+.
  • Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and compliance issues related to charitable giving in Canada and globally.
  • Ability to read and understand financial statements, do calculations, and interpret legal concepts.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with donors, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, with the ability to read people and situations astutely and respond accordingly.
  • Entrepreneurially minded, with creative thinking skills and a solution-oriented approach.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficient in fundraising platforms, such as Artez and Classy, and database management systems, such as Salesforce.
