Job Overview

The Holyrood After School Care Society is seeking a dedicated Child Care Worker to support our after school programs. This role involves working with children in an engaging and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement child-care programs that foster the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social growth of children.
  • Engage children through storytelling and creative activities.
  • Support early childhood educators in executing programs that enhance children's development.
  • Lead activities such as storytelling, music, and excursions to local attractions.
  • Maintain records and assist in the evaluation of children's progress.
  • Encourage creativity through various forms of art and play.
  • Guide children in developing healthy habits related to eating, dressing, and personal care.
  • Prepare snacks and organize spaces for meals and rest.
  • Monitor children for any signs of learning or behavioral challenges and communicate findings with parents or supervisors.
  • Participate in staff meetings to discuss children's progress and challenges.
  • Understand and adhere to licensing regulations.
  • Establish behavior guidelines and maintain a collaborative relationship with colleagues and community service providers.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment for children.
  • Plan and coordinate activities for school-age children during non-school hours.
  • Supervise and guide other early childhood educators and assistants.
Required Certifications
  • Child Development Assistant (ECE Level 1)
  • Child Development Supervisor (ECE Level 3)
  • Child Development Worker (ECE Level 2)
  • First Aid Certification
Experience with Special Needs

Experience working with children who have behavioral challenges is preferred.

Safety and Security

A vulnerable sector check is required.
