About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Specialist, Financial Reporting to join our Chief Financial Team at CMHC. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing strategic financial advice to management, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our financial records, and collaborating on diverse projects to drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert financial guidance to management on financial results, accounting policies, and complex accounting matters.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and complete accounting records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and robust internal control over financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review CMHC's annual consolidated financial statements, quarterly Financial Report, and other government reporting in accordance with IFRS and Treasury Board standards.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting and analysis.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Analysts and Specialists on financial reporting and analysis.
  • Collaborate on diverse projects, including new program/product implementation, new accounting standard impact assessment, and implementation of new tools.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Professional accounting designation (minimum Chartered Professional Accountant).
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience in financial reporting or similar experience.
  • Demonstrated work experience in designing and implementing new accounting policies, assessing impact, and writing complete memos on highly complex accounting matters.
  • Project management and cross-functional team leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant financial, legislative, and regulatory environments.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or any other professional designation(s), relevant license, or certificate in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of complex IFRS standards.
  • Bilingualism (English and French).
