At Douglas College, we are seeking a highly motivated and organized Student Assistant to join our Community Relations team. As a Student Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the planning and execution of internal and external events.
Responsibilities:- Assist in the planning and execution of events, including coordinating logistics, communicating with stakeholders, and ensuring event details are accurate and up-to-date.
- Collaborate with team members to brainstorm creative event concepts and elements, and contribute to the development of event marketing materials.
- Contribute to the maintenance of event documents, including spreadsheets, volunteer forms, and signup sheets.
- Assist with event promotion, including creating social media posts and distributing promotional materials.
- Help with event setup, including setting up equipment, arranging decor, and providing onsite support.
- Assist with event tear-down and packing, including disassembling furniture, packing items, and disposing of garbage.
- Participate in post-event activities, including gathering feedback and event data, and counting inventory.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
- Good interpersonal skills and an enthusiasm for working with others.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Document design skills an asset.
Domestic students must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible for this role:
- Be enrolled in, and maintain, a minimum of one or more (3 credit) courses at Douglas College throughout the work term.
- Have been enrolled in, and maintained, a minimum of one or more (3 credit) courses at Douglas College in the term immediately preceding the work term and have indicated an intention to enroll at the college in the term immediately following the work term.
- Be enrolled in, and maintain, a minimum of two or more (3 credit) courses at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C. throughout the work term.
- Have been enrolled in, and maintained, a minimum of two or more (3 credit) courses at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C. in the term immediately preceding the work term and have indicated an intention to enroll at the institution in the term immediately following the work term.
International students must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible for this role:
- Be enrolled in full-time studies at Douglas College, throughout the academic year.
- Be an international student at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C., with a valid Study Permit that has the notation – "May accept employment on or off campus if meeting eligibility criteria as per R186 (F), (V) or (W). Must cease working if no longer meeting these criteria."
Qualified Douglas College students meeting the above criteria will be given first preference over students of other qualifying institutions.
