About the Role

TransAlta is seeking a skilled Wind Technician to join their team at the Pincher Creek Asset. As a key member of the Wind Operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the Cowley North and Summerview 1 wind assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement operations and maintenance strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead a team of wind technicians and contractors to perform maintenance, service, and repair of wind turbine equipment.
  • Monitor and analyze operations performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to optimize results.
  • Ensure operational compliance with EHS, NERC, OHS, and other relevant standards.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to wind technicians, ensuring all routine and preventative maintenance is performed accurately and on time.
  • Support the Supervisor in selecting, developing, and managing a high-performance team of employees and contractors.
  • Identify and mitigate risks that could negatively impact business results, and identify opportunities to improve operations.
Requirements
  • Appropriate trade certification in a related discipline with years of related progressive experience.
  • Preference for Vestas Wind Turbine (V80) experience of 4 years or more, or related experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within own discipline and knowledge of others.
  • Thorough understanding of the operational aspects of the plant - technical, compliance, and financial.
  • Plant risk and related mitigation strategies.
  • Understanding of site contractual obligations, procurement processes, and vendor qualifications.
What We Offer
  • Annual base salary starting at CDN $69,300.00 – $92,000.00, based on qualifications and experience.
