Emergency Response Operator

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Emergency Response Operator to join our team at GFL Environmental. As an Emergency Response Operator, you will be responsible for responding to various emergency incidents, including environmental and industrial spills, clandestine laboratory decommissioning, and highway incidents involving tractor trailers and chemical leaks.
Key Responsibilities:- Respond to emergency incidents, including environmental and industrial spills, clandestine laboratory decommissioning, and highway incidents involving tractor trailers and chemical leaks.
- Work alongside police, fire, EMS, Environment Canada, and other stakeholders to ensure a safe and effective response.
- Participate in job-specific and health & safety training as required.
- Operate equipment, including heavy equipment, vacuum trucks, and water blasters, in an efficient and safe manner.
- Complete work-related documentation and reporting.
- Follow all established organizational policies and procedures.
- Promote and participate in a work environment free of workplace harassment and violence.
- Perform work in a safe manner, so as not to endanger oneself or others.
- Report workplace hazards, accidents, or other occurrences that may pose a risk to the organization or the safety of oneself or others.
- Adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and Employment Standards Act.
- Participate in team/staff meetings when required.
- Work in a manner that preserves confidentiality and minimizes risk.

- Highly motivated.
- Valid DZ and/or AZ license with a suitable driver's abstract (or willingness to obtain within 3 months of employment).
- On-call work availability for emergency response.
- Participation in pre-employment and post-incident drug & alcohol testing.
- Valid certification in First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain within 3 months of employment).
