We are seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to fill the role of Healthcare Aide and Ward Clerk at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. This position requires a unique blend of clinical and administrative skills, with a focus on providing exceptional patient care and support.
Key Responsibilities- Provide personal care to patients, including hygiene, activity, and rest, nutrition, elimination, and safety, in accordance with individualized care plans and hospital policies.
- Perform a variety of clerical and receptionist duties, including arranging patient appointments, retrieving patient information, processing physician orders, recording statistics, and answering phone calls.
- Assist with non-nursing functions related to patient care, such as ordering supplies and maintaining patient records.
- Grade 12 education.
- Health Care Aide Certificate and Unit Clerk Certificate from a recognized school or equivalent.
- Completion of a comprehensive course in medical terminology.
- Ability to type accurately and possess current computer skills and software applications.
- Ability to train and participate as part of the Code Blue Response team, Code White Response team, and Code Yellow Response team.
- Demonstrated ability to write, speak, and understand English.
- Demonstrated self-direction, flexibility, and creativity in work.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that promote professionalism, interdepartmental collaboration, and customer service.
- Aptitude and desire to provide direct patient care.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrated through excellence in time management, organization, and prioritization of work.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to the hospital, patients, and their families.
- Ability to work safely without injury to self or to patients.
- Demonstrated ability to lift and transfer patients on a frequent basis, utilizing proper body mechanics and mechanical devices.
- Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
- Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude.
