Safety Advisor Position Overview

The City of Kamloops is seeking a highly skilled Safety Advisor to join its Human Resources and Safety Department. As a key member of the team, the Safety Advisor will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Municipal, Provincial, and Federal regulations, and for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and identify areas for improvement
  • Conduct inspections and investigations, including those involving motor vehicle incidents
  • Develop and implement in-service training programs
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and health
  • Provide guidance and support to employees on safety and health matters
Requirements:
  • Two-year diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or four-year degree in a related field
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a safety practitioner's role
  • Knowledge of labour relations and occupational health and safety issues
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
