Role Summary

Your contributions shape our mission

At the CWB Group, we take pride in our impactful work that drives change and fosters growth. Each day presents fresh opportunities to learn from industry experts and collaborate with a diverse group of individuals committed to making a significant difference.

The CWB Welding Foundation, established in 2014, is a national non-profit organization linked with the CWB Group. The Foundation forges collaborations among industry, educational institutions, and government entities to empower Canadians in pursuing rewarding careers in the welding sector. We promote awareness, training, and the adoption of best practices to ensure a high-quality educational experience, impartial advocacy, and increased accessibility for those interested in skilled trades and welding careers.

Our dedication to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

The CWB Group recognizes that a diverse and inclusive workforce is essential to our success. We strive to attract, develop, and retain talented individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.

Achieve your professional aspirations with us

For nearly 75 years, our workforce has been the cornerstone of our achievements, contributing to our esteemed reputation. We encourage our employees to take ownership of their career paths and provide the necessary resources and opportunities for professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

The summer student will serve as an Educational Program Coordinator with the CWB Welding Foundation, assisting the Program Manager with various program-related tasks, including but not limited to CWB Welding Foundation initiatives.

Responsibilities will encompass the design and execution of programs aimed at enhancing awareness and education in welding, encouraging more individuals to consider careers in welding and other skilled trades. The program will focus on eliminating barriers to participation, particularly for underrepresented groups such as women, Indigenous peoples, racialized communities, individuals with disabilities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and others.

This role will primarily be conducted from a home office, with travel required for events and conferences hosted by partner organizations. Flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, may be necessary to support community engagement and events.

Specific tasks include:

Program Planning

Coordinate and distribute all materials related to program planning to host organizations. Communicate with host organizations to gather all necessary documentation before program initiation. Collaborate with other CWBWF staff to facilitate program planning. Address inquiries related to programs. Assist in marketing and promotional activities for programs. Research local events and activities to identify opportunities for delivering CWBWF programs and provide recommendations to the Program Manager. Enter program data into various databases using CRM and Microsoft Office tools, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Program Delivery

Act as the CWBWF representative during program execution and events. Work with host organization members to coordinate program logistics at each location. Oversee program implementation at each site, providing support to host organizations as needed. Prepare and distribute all materials related to program delivery. Assemble program packages (e.g., promotional items) for each program and ensure timely shipping to host organizations. Organize activities to facilitate the delivery of camps and programs. Capture photographs of camp activities for promotional purposes, collaborating with the Communications Officer to ensure timely submission of images. Serve as the liaison between host organizations and CWBWF staff during program execution.

Program Evaluation and Reporting

Compile program statistics based on evaluations and report findings to the Program Manager, offering recommendations for improvement. Complete reports for programs/events upon conclusion and debrief the CWBWF team as necessary. Submit travel expense reports to the Program Manager for approval promptly. Maintain an updated database of program information (e.g., participants, locations).

In this role, you will report to the Program Manager and work from a home office, with occasional travel required. CWB has embraced a remote-first work model, allowing employees to work from home while serving clients either remotely or in person. We promote flexibility, encouraging employees to establish schedules that best suit their needs, their teams, and their clients.

Required Qualifications:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written). Post-secondary education in welding, welding technology, or a related field. Experience in customer service. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Capacity to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. Background in not-for-profit, customer service, or business administration, including accounting and advancement services. Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Teams, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle. Attention to detail and high accuracy in work. Willingness to travel as needed. Availability to work evenings and/or weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

One year of customer service experience, along with project management knowledge or experience. Bilingual in English and French. Project management experience or relevant coursework. Familiarity with database management systems. Understanding of skilled trades, including apprenticeship.

Accommodation:

The CWB Group is dedicated to providing accommodations to job applicants with disabilities throughout the recruitment process. If you require accommodation, please inform us during the application process, and we will work with you to meet your needs. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals; however, only those selected for consideration will be contacted.
