Position Summary
The Site Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing all activities on the construction site, ensuring that the project adheres closely to the established plans and specifications. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and high-quality standards throughout the construction process.
Key Responsibilities
- Acquire a thorough understanding of project documentation, including specifications, drawings, and schedules.
- Manage daily labor needs and provide leadership in high-pressure scenarios.
- Maintain exceptional organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively on a daily basis.
- Utilize basic computer applications, email, and construction management software.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the construction team and adeptly resolve conflicts as they arise.
- Plan and oversee the establishment of temporary facilities such as power sources, offices, and access roads.
- Proactively address all construction needs, adapting to changes as necessary for each project.
- Supervise and verify the surveying and layout for all construction phases.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure an efficient and economical construction program, evaluating alternative methods for maximum cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure accurate time sheet preparation for all labor directly employed.
- Oversee the completion of essential office tasks, including:
- Accident documentation
- Material delivery tracking
- Daily activity reports
- Cost coding for delivery slips
- Additional work orders
- Filing of drawings, change orders, and correspondence
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and enforce the Trench Excavators Act as a minimum safety standard.
- Schedule on-site activities with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure effective project management.
- Expedite the delivery of materials necessary for both personal and subcontractor work.
- Ensure that all work is executed in strict accordance with the plans and specifications.
- Remain vigilant to safeguard the company’s interests by paying close attention to construction details, avoiding potential disputes.
- Attend regular job meetings with architects and owners as directed.
- Lead weekly meetings with all trades to plan and monitor project progress.
- Supervise the proper use and maintenance of equipment and tools, avoiding unnecessary rentals.
- Ensure the security of the project site, including all materials, equipment, and tools.
- Maintain cleanliness on-site at all times.
- Actively participate in the prompt resolution of any deficiencies.
- Familiarity with the IHSA COR Certification Process is considered an asset.
