Job Summary

The Maintenance Manager is a critical role at Paper Excellence, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our mill. This position requires a strong leader who can provide guidance and direction to the maintenance team, while also developing and implementing strategic long-term goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a safety culture throughout the maintenance team, ensuring compliance with all safety programs.
  • Organize, direct, and oversee the ongoing operations of the Maintenance Department, including productivity, policies, procedures, and standards in all maintenance department areas.
  • Provide support to the maintenance team, including Superintendents and Supervisors, through mentoring and coaching.
  • Work closely with other departmental managers to ensure their maintenance needs are met and any issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Focus on Preventive & Predictive Maintenance to ensure the long-term efficiency and reliability of our operations.
  • Manage the Maintenance budget for the mill, establishing priorities and resource delegation.
  • Coordinate work with outside inspections, provide project management, ensure safety of personnel, and perform other duties as required.
  • Work closely with HR on all recruitment activities for the Maintenance department, participating in interviews, candidate site tours, and hiring decisions.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Engineering plus five (5) years related experience in mill engineering, planning, or maintenance departments; or, High school graduation plus trades qualifications in any one or more of the trades being supervised, with five (5) years' experience as a tradesperson in the pulp industry.
  • Five (5) years' supervisory experience with a proven ability to provide leadership and direction.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A high level of understanding for all trades within the department and understanding of mill operating maintenance procedures.
