JOB FUNCTION

Under the guidance of the Service Supervisor, the individual is tasked with delivering comprehensive Child Welfare services to children, adolescents, and families, ensuring their immediate and ongoing safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW) is preferred.
  • Degree in Human Services or related fields is mandatory.
  • Candidates with a Diploma in Social Work may be considered if they commit to pursuing further education to obtain one of the aforementioned degrees.
EXPERIENCE
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience in child protection and providing child welfare services is required for candidates with a degree.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in Child Welfare or Social Work is necessary for candidates with a diploma.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Ensure all documentation meets Ministry standards.
  • Record all interactions in contact logs.
  • Complete and/or update necessary documentation.
  • Maintain service files to ensure they are current and contain all relevant information.
Practice using evidence-informed methods.
  • Engage in professional development activities, training, and education, integrating new clinical knowledge and skills into practice.
  • Participate in team and staff meetings.
Receive, document, and investigate referrals concerning child maltreatment.
  • Perform all other related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, regulations, and Ministry standards (e.g., the Child, Youth and Family Services Act).
  • Proven advanced verbal and written communication skills in both English and French, including the ability to produce clear and comprehensive reports.
  • Strong understanding of the agency's values, service philosophy, and objectives.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Intersectionality, cultural competency, and clinical practice within an anti-oppression framework.
  • Clinical understanding of child maltreatment, child development, attachment, separation, and family dynamics.
  • Proven clinical and counseling skills to provide assessment, engagement, and support services to children, youth, families, and alternative care providers.
  • Commitment to integrating principles of equity, justice, non-discrimination, and accessibility into practice and service delivery.
  • Ability to work with vulnerable populations, including clients facing mental health, addiction, and poverty challenges.
  • Knowledge of evidence-informed practices.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Familiarity with community resources.
  • Demonstrated cultural competencies in service delivery.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, priority-setting, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Interpersonal and collaboration skills to coordinate effectively with a wide range of community resources and stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and manage stressful situations.
  • Capacity to maintain appropriate safeguards for the privacy and confidentiality of agency and client information.
  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency in computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, CPIN, Outlook).
  • Possession of a valid Class 'G' Driver's License and personal insurance coverage with access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Provision of a negative Vulnerable Sector Check.
