About the Role
The Project Director plays a crucial role in driving the success of our construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This is a key leadership position that requires a strong understanding of the construction industry, excellent project management skills, and the ability to foster a positive and inclusive team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project strategies to achieve business objectives and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Provide clear and concise reporting of project status and areas of risk to senior management and clients.
- Support the estimating team in the preparation and submission of company qualifications and proposals to clients.
- Interact with corporate discipline leads and project construction leads to ensure the required resources are available to meet contract requirements.
- Identify project objectives and requirements, stakeholders, and other third-party engagements to ensure compliance and achievement of contract expectations.
- Develop strategic and operational plans for each project assigned and provide overall leadership and guidance to project managers.
- Oversee the preparation of milestone project deliverables as required by company processes and contract requirements.
- Support project staff in outlining work plans and assigning duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
- Oversee the overall progress of assigned projects through each phase.
- Present and report on project progress and performance, providing financial oversight and monitoring of construction progress and budget.
- Create and drive an inclusive and positive culture, enabling career progression and building an engaged and resilient team of professionals.
- Liaise with project managers, construction managers, and superintendents in the development of project and construction execution plans, monitoring overall progress and lookahead, and approving changes to ensure effective and efficient utilization of project resources.
- Supervise that projects are built according to approved plans and support project managers in closing out each project in a timely manner.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, their representatives, project stakeholders, and key partners to strengthen company industry leadership and credibility.
- Drive innovation, propose technology improvements to industry state-of-the-art, and suggest process changes.
Requirements
- Engineering degree (Mechanical, Civil/Structural), or graduate of an applicable technical diploma program, and/or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 15 years in an oil & gas construction project management or project supervision role or large-scale construction experience.
- 5-8 years working experience in a managerial role with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Availability to periodically travel to project sites.
Skills and Knowledge
- Understanding of the oil and gas pipeline & industrial construction industry and familiarity with relevant construction and safety codes, standards, and practices.
