Job Title: Heavy Equipment Technician

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut.

Job Summary:

The Heavy Equipment Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and overhauling diesel generators and associated support equipment. This position requires strong mechanical skills and the ability to work independently in a remote community setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical generation systems, subsystems, and equipment to ensure maximum productivity and quality.
  • Travel to remote communities to perform regular inspections, conduct preventative maintenance, install equipment, and perform general repairs to mechanical generation systems.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering department to review design and equipment specifications to ensure projects meet all regulatory and QEC compliance standards.
  • Work with related trades and staff to ensure on-time and on-budget completion of capital and O&M projects.
  • Maintain maintenance documentation and coordinate with Engineering, operators, maintenance staff, when amending documentation.
Requirements:
  • Intra-provincial certification as a Heavy Equipment Technician or similar certification.
  • Red Seal certification is an asset.
What We Offer:

A competitive salary range of $97,745.64 to $113,373.57 and a northern living allowance of $20,891 per year. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined-benefit pension program. In addition, subsidized staff housing is available for this position. This position is included in the Nunavut Employee's Union.

Preference will be given to Nunavut Inuit.
